The Prep Cook position at Aramark is a vital role within their food service operations. The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting cooks, chefs, and food service managers by preparing ingredients and supporting various food preparation and service tasks. This role requires adherence to food safety, food handling, and sanitation standards to ensure top-quality and safe food production.
In this position, the prep cook is involved in a range of duties including measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items according to production guidelines and established recipes. They are expected to use kitchen utensils safely, including knives, to produce food that is properly portioned, arranged, and garnished. The role also includes rotating food stocks to maintain freshness, properly storing leftover foods with accurate labeling and dating following Aramark’s procedures, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of refrigerators and workstations.
The Prep Cook is also responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment, following all relevant food safety regulations and company policies related to sanitation and food handling. Positive guest and co-worker interaction is expected as part of providing excellent customer service.
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $24.24 to $25.44, reflecting Aramark's commitment to fair and competitive compensation. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in food prep or food service
- knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling
- ability to safely handle kitchen utensils including knives
- excellent communication skills
- physical ability to perform tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
- able to obtain food worker certification if applicable
- adherence to safety and sanitation policies
- willingness to work flexible hours
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in food prep or food service-related work preferred
- knowledge of various food prep methods, proper knife handling, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, temperature control, sanitation, and storage preferred
- must be able to obtain and present Washington State Food Worker Card
- demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs
