The Prep Cook position at Residence Inn Raleigh - Downtown is a vital culinary role within the hotel’s food service team. This full-time position requires a skilled individual who can efficiently prepare a variety of food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and dairy products using various cooking equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers. The role involves strict adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards to ensure consistent food presentation and taste aligned with hotel policies.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the culinary team by preparing ingredients and completing opening and closing checklists to facilitate smooth kitchen operations. Attention to cleanliness, food safety, and proper storage of ingredients is crucial, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. A flexible work schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and the ability to work 40 hours per week is expected, with overtime approved by supervisors as necessary. The Prep Cook will also participate in team meetings and contribute suggestions for operational improvements and safety practices.

This position demands high energy, professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision. Candidates should have prior experience in food production, the ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs, and maintain a clean, sanitary work area with appropriate work attire as specified by the hotel. Job Duties

  • prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and dairy products for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • complete opening and closing checklists
  • refer to daily prep list at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, recipes, and hotel policies
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work area
  • follow approved plate presentations and garnish for all dishes
  • handle, store, label, and rotate products properly in accordance with laws and regulations
  • stock and maintain sufficient inventories of food products at line stations
  • close the kitchen properly following checklists
  • attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
  • perform other related duties as assigned
