The part-time Prep Cook position at Rate Field offers a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about culinary arts and hospitality. This role plays a crucial part in the kitchen's fast-paced operations by preparing food to exact standards and ensuring that orders are coordinated efficiently. Prep cooks are the backbone of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing the foundation for memorable dining experiences.
This role requires close collaboration with the chefs and other kitchen staff to comply with all health codes, sanitation regulations, and safety procedures, as well as department policies and standards. Prep cooks at Delaware North must manage multiple tasks such as portioning, labeling, wrapping food products, and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment. The position demands physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle various kitchen equipment and perform tasks like chopping, mixing, and blending.
Employees are expected to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, and weekends, to meet the operational demands of the stadium during games and other events. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs or more
- Ability to stand and bend for long periods of time
- Manual ability to chop mix blend whip foods and operate kitchen equipment
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including days evenings and weekends
- Exposed to variable temperatures
- Must comply with all health and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment is an asset
- Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and follow instructions
- Capacity to use kitchen tools safely including knives and small equipment
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Prepare food to specifications before and during unit operations complying with portion sizes quality standards and policies
- Communicate with chef for any instructions or training
- Uphold all health codes and sanitation regulations and follow safety security and kitchen procedures
- Maintain food utensils and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
- Perform opening closing and side work duties and end-of-day inventory
- Label date and wrap food products according to ServSafe procedures
- Coordinate multiple orders on demand efficiently
