Nestled along the scenic banks of the Willamette River, the property offers guests an idyllic retreat with over 250 fully renovated rooms and suites. Each accommodation is thoughtfully designed to reflect the charm and essence of the Pacific Northwest, combined with modern upscale comforts to enhance every visitor's experience. The hotel features a picturesque setting where guests can enjoy stunning views of the river, relax with a glass of local Willamette Valley wine on private balconies, or witness breathtaking sunsets that celebrate the region's natural landscape. As a historic property, Valley River Inn is more than a place to stay; it's a destination that embodies the spirit and vibrancy of Eugene's cultural and recreational life.
Valley River Inn is home to Sweet Waters on the River, a highly regarded local dining establishment that celebrates Northwest cuisine with carefully curated menus and exceptional service. The hotel also boasts over 15,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event spaces, making it a premier venue for gatherings ranging from intimate meetings to large celebrations. Its prime location provides easy access to Eugene's downtown area, the University of Oregon, and major landmarks such as Autzen Stadium and Hayward Field, positioning it at the center of local activity and entertainment.
The role of Prep Cook at Sweet Waters at the Valley River Inn is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals looking to develop and apply their skills in a dynamic, guest-focused environment. This part-time position offers an hourly pay range of $18 to $23 and eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and a 401K plan. Additional perks include LTD bus pass, tip pooling eligibility, daily pay options, paid time off and holiday pay, HSA/FSA plans with employer contributions, discounted lodging, dining, spa, golf, and retail services, as well as numerous opportunities for personal and career growth through volunteer programs, committee participation, task force projects, and an online learning platform.
The Prep Cook will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of food quality and presentation that define Sweet Waters. Responsibilities include following specification sheets to prepare daily ingredients and menu items, ensuring consistent and attractive presentations, assisting with new menu item preparation, and working closely with line cooks to monitor and maintain food quality. The role demands attention to detail and commitment to food safety, sanitation, and team standards. This position also involves participating in inventory management, ordering and receiving products under supervision, and executing opening and closing kitchen procedures efficiently.
Success in this role requires previous cooking experience and possession of the necessary State Food Handler's License(s). Candidates must demonstrate strong knife skills, the ability to adjust recipes for flavor, and a commitment to serving guests' needs with timeliness and professionalism. Effective communication skills to present information clearly to team members are essential. Sticking to grooming and sanitation standards is a key expectation, as is contributing positively to the inclusive, values-based culture at Columbia Hospitality, the company operating the Valley River Inn.
Whether you meet all of the qualifications or not, Columbia Hospitality welcomes applicants passionate about hospitality and culinary arts to join their team. This role offers a welcoming, inclusive work environment where new perspectives are valued, and career growth is encouraged. If you are ready to be part of an exceptional team that is dedicated to creating memorable experiences for guests at one of Eugene's most cherished locations, the Prep Cook position at Sweet Waters at the Valley River Inn might be the perfect fit for you.
