Job Description

The university is currently seeking a part-time Food Production Assistant to join their culinary team. This role plays a vital part in supporting the preparation and fabrication of food products, contributing to the high standards of service Wake Forest is known for. The Food Production Assistant will work under general supervision to help prepare vegetables, fruits, salads, desserts, and hors d'oeuvres, assisting cooks and kitchen personnel in ensuring the smooth operation of daily kitchen tasks.

This position is ideal for candidates with a passion for culinary arts and experience in hotel or fine restaurant kitchens. The Food Production Assistant will be responsible for maintaining critical sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen and dishwashing areas, helping to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Daily communication with the Chef will be important for coordinating job assignments and keeping kitchen operations efficient. The assistant will also support the dish room operations, organize storerooms and freezers, and manage trash removal duties to uphold a clean and organized working environment.

Ambitious individuals in this role will have the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team of buffet attendants, servers, and dishwashers, fostering positive relationships and cooperative teamwork. The position requires physical stamina and an ability to perform medium work tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and fine motor skills.
