The role of Prep Cook at Over Easy is an essential position focused on maintaining high standards of food preparation, safety, and sanitation. The prep cook is responsible for preparing various food items from scratch, which includes accurately following recipes, plating guidelines, and health regulations to ensure the quality of dishes served to customers remains consistently excellent. This position demands someone who is attentive, punctual, and proactive in maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and organization. The prep cook uses a range of kitchen tools including knives, electric mixers, immersion blenders, food processors, scales, and portion bags to prepare ingredients and dishes efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • minimum of 1 year of experience in the restaurant industry
  • at least 6 months of experience in a high-volume restaurant setting preferred
  • ability to communicate clearly with teammates and management
  • physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to stand for long periods (up to 10 hours)
  • minimum age of 16
  • legal authorization to work in the US

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • assumes 100% responsibility for the quality, food safety/sanitation, and timeliness of dishes served
  • responsible for being well-acquainted with all menu items, recipes, plating guidelines, and sanitation/basic safety information
  • prepares a variety of food items using knives, electric mixers, immersion blenders, food processors, scales, and portion bags
  • shows up when scheduled and prepares, stocks, and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service
  • maintains a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, broilers, sauté, burners, ovens, flat top griddles, and refrigeration equipment both during and after service
  • handles, stores, and rotates all products properly in accordance with health department standards
  • closes the kitchen properly and follows the opening and closing checklist for kitchen stations completing deep clean projects
