Job Description

As a Prep Cook at Oak View Group, you will play a vital role in supporting the culinary operations within these prestigious venues. This part-time position offers an hourly wage of $20.00 and includes benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan and matching contributions, reflecting OVG's commitment to employee well-being and growth. The Prep Cook assists in preparing and producing food for the venue at catered functions, ensuring that all food preparation is executed with high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up your workstation, handling sanitation and cleaning duties, and closing tasks to maintain a safe and organized kitchen environment. Your tasks will include preparing ingredients, plating dishes such as salads, entrees, and desserts according to chefs’ instructions, and assisting with food delivery to designated function areas. You will also ensure food is properly stored, maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, and communicate effectively with a diverse team including co-workers and vendors. This position requires excellent attendance and availability to work a schedule based on events, including nights, weekends, and extended hours.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and long hours
  • Previous experience or training in food preparation or other related kitchen experience preferred
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment

Job Duties

  • Assist with the delivery of food to designated function areas
  • Follow a prep list created by chefs for planned duties
  • Prepare cooking ingredients
  • Prepare and plate dishes as directed such as salads, entrees and desserts
  • Ensure proper storage of all food
  • Maintain a positive and compliant employee relations climate
  • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, safety and employment regulations by clearly communicating standards and procedures to all staff
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen for the food and beverage operation
  • Communicate and positively interact with diverse personalities, including co-workers and purveyors in a variety of work situations
