The Prep Cook role at Derby City Gaming & Hotel is integral to maintaining the high standards of food preparation and service that guests expect. As part of the kitchen Leadership Team, the Prep Cook is responsible for safely preparing food items according to menu specifications and standardized recipes. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Prep Cook supports all outlets within the hotel’s hospitality offerings, ensuring that pantry and hot line items are ready and available for daily service. They play a vital role in promoting a fun, entertaining, and exciting atmosphere where excellent service delivery is essential. Through teamwork and communication with Back of House (BOH) team members, this position helps uphold the establishment’s reputation for outstanding guest relations and operational excellence. Job Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalence
one to two years of related experience preferred
ability to communicate orally and in writing
ability to work in fast-paced environment
must be able to complete any classes or certifications required
able to obtain a valid Racing License

Job Duties

Creates and ensures a fun-filled entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount
prepares food as directed by the Chef or Shift Leader to the specifications of recipes and standards
follows standardized recipes and or presentation procedures to specific detail
assist in preparation of all pantry and hot line items for daily service
properly stores and labels all food product
able to perform related duties in any or for station or outlet assigned
assists with daily specials
meets or exceeds industry standards for preparation serving and storing of food
ensures that the working area is clean and sanitary in accordance with local state and federal health department codes
promotes outstanding guest relations
promotes honesty and trust among the team
