The Prep Cook position at Kassi Beach plays a critical role in the culinary operations, responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and other kitchen staff in the preparation and presentation of various food items. Job Requirements
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- high school diploma or equivalent
- active SNHD Food Handlers card
- previous experience as a prep cook or equivalent
- at least two years of experience at a high-volume establishment
- ability to work a flexible schedule
Job Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, inclusive of spelling and grammar
- ability to move quickly and efficiently through the kitchen
- will work in hot and cold, confined, or cramped spaces
- the work environment is noisy, must constantly receive and communicate information
- ability to bend, stoop, balance, and reach-ins necessary
- job requires lifting/carrying the max weight of 50lbs
- knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- a team player with good communication skills
- patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
Job Duties
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
- undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
- prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
- maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
- ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- perform other kitchen duties as assigned
- adhere to all house policies and standards
- perform proper changeover, opening, and closing duties
- follow all prep recipes and procedures and successfully perform these duties as assigned and/or reassigned by leadership
- participate in seamless operation between BOH + FOH staff members ensuring proper service to our guests
- perform to high standards of excellence, execution, and cleanliness
- always keep your active SNHD Food Handler's card with you while on property
- execute proper health and safety protocols while operating equipment, handling food, storing food, maintaining temperature & time control logs, and sanitizing as dictated by the SNHD
- report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
- contribute to successful SNHD health inspections
- actively participate in all scheduled required training sessions
- perform other duties as assigned
