Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation or kitchen assistance preferred
  • ability to stand for entire shift
  • ability to frequently reach, bend and stoop
  • capacity to carry 35lbs about ten times per shift over medium distances
  • good verbal communication skills
  • willingness to work in fast-paced environment
  • commitment to following food safety and sanitation protocols

Job Duties

  • Follow prep list created by Executive Chef or Sous Chef using set recipes
  • measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • wash and chop vegetables, cut meat to prepare for cooking
  • label and stock all ingredients in an organized way for easy access
  • follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by Melvin's
  • maintain a clean and organized station while practicing good safety and sanitation skills during prep and service
  • set up steam table on Front Line with appropriate water levels and pans in place
  • follow 'Daily Backup Sheet' and heat up all food to proper temperatures for service
  • perform other kitchen duties as assigned
