Renowned for its commitment to uncompromising hospitality, Cooper's Hawk offers a unique environment where guests can enjoy chef-driven menus crafted from fresh, high-quality ingredients alongside an extensive selection of handcrafted wines. With its very first Alabama location opening soon, Cooper's Hawk is expanding its footprint and seeking talented individuals to join its team and uphold its standard of excellence. The company prides itself on fostering a vibrant and inclusive workplace where team members are supported and encouraged to grow professionally and personally.
The role of Prep Cook at Cooper's Hawk is pivotal in setting the foundation for a memorable dining experience. Equipped with a genuine passion for culinary arts and a keen attention to detail, Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing fresh ingredients and supporting the kitchen team's smooth operation. This role demands not only precision in tasks such as slicing, portioning, and preparing sauces but also a proactive and team-focused attitude to ensure daily service runs efficiently. The Prep Cook contributes directly to maintaining the quality standards that Cooper's Hawk is known for, playing an essential part in delivering consistent, high-quality dishes to guests.
Beyond the kitchen duties, Cooper's Hawk offers a comprehensive benefits package reflecting its commitment to employee wellness and satisfaction. Benefits include comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and employee assistance programs. In addition, team members have access to life and disability benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, pay access prior to payday, discounts on dining, carryout, retail, and wine, paid time off, and even car rental discounts. The company also values career growth and offers educational opportunities like wine and culinary education, monthly wine tastings, and a structured Career Growth Flight Plan.
As a Prep Cook, success is driven by being prepared, maintaining high-quality standards, communicating effectively with teammates, and owning responsibility for one’s work area. The person in this role will prepare fresh, high-quality ingredients, follow recipes accurately, set up and organize their station efficiently, and keep their workspace clean and safe. Additionally, the Prep Cook will handle various kitchen functions including washing, peeling, slicing, and mixing ingredients; preparing hot and cold sauces; slicing meats and cheeses; portioning food for service; and following daily systems and procedures to stay organized.
The work environment is fast-paced and requires the individual to be adaptable and team-oriented, capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays is necessary. Cooper's Hawk values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing reasonable accommodations during the hiring and employment process to ensure an inclusive environment for all team members. Transparency about compensation is maintained with the understanding that salaries may vary and can depend on various factors. Overall, this position offers an exciting opportunity for culinary-minded individuals looking to grow their career in a dynamic and supportive setting at the forefront of the hospitality industry.
