Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a renowned hospitality group combining a Napa-style tasting room with wine-inspired retail alongside a full-service restaurant, bar, and private event space. Established in 2005, the company delivers a unique modern yet casual dining experience, with every dish on the scratch-kitchen menu thoughtfully designed to complement their award-winning wines. The Cooper's Hawk Wine Club has grown to become one of the largest wine clubs globally, offering exclusive membership benefits such as curated dining and travel experiences that extend the Napa Valley lifestyle beyond the tasting room. Additionally, Cooper's Hawk has expanded its culinary offerings with Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk, introducing the vibrant flavors of Rome to their repertoire and continuing to evolve as a lifestyle brand that caters to enthusiasts of fine wine, food, and memorable experiences.
The role of a Prep Cook at Cooper's Hawk is a crucial part of this dynamic team, bringing heart and precision to every recipe and task in the kitchen. Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing fresh, high-quality ingredients that set the tone for a great dining experience, ensuring that every slice, portion, and plate meets the highest standards of quality and consistency. This role supports the kitchen operations to run smoothly, embodying Cooper's Hawk's culture of Uncompromising Hospitality. Coordinating closely with fellow kitchen staff, Prep Cooks contribute to a seamless service flow by keeping their stations clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout each shift.
Prep Cooks at Cooper's Hawk are expected not only to perform standard kitchen duties such as washing, peeling, slicing, and mixing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients but also to take ownership of their work and the overall kitchen environment. This includes maintaining equipment in excellent condition and seeking opportunities to improve the efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their prep work and is dedicated to laying the foundation for every great dish served at the restaurant.
This position offers numerous benefits designed to enrich the team member experience, including a 50 percent dining and carryout discount, 40 percent off retail wine purchases, monthly wine tastings for two, and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and telehealth coverage. Additional perks include a 401k plan with company match, paid time off, flexible scheduling, early pay access, mental health support, and opportunities for wine and culinary education. Cooper's Hawk also prioritizes career growth with a clearly defined Career Growth Flight Plan and offers team member rewards, milestone recognition, and referral bonuses.
Working as a Prep Cook demands a collaborative, team-focused attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess basic knife skills, and understand kitchen safety and sanitation protocols. Experience as a prep or line cook is preferred, along with comfort in following recipes and portioning food accurately. Physical stamina is essential, with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds, as well as the flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays.
Cooper's Hawk values inclusivity and is an equal opportunity employer, offering reasonable accommodations throughout the employment process. Join Cooper's Hawk and be part of a team that not only creates exceptional culinary experiences but also fosters professional growth and a supportive work environment.
