Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a unique and celebrated hospitality company that merges a Napa-style tasting room with wine-inspired retail and a full-service restaurant, bar, and private event space. Known for its modern-yet-casual dining experience, Cooper's Hawk emphasizes quality and guest satisfaction by crafting scratch-kitchen menu items that perfectly complement their award-winning wines. Since its inception in 2005, the establishment has committed to delivering the Napa Valley experience to all its guests and Wine Club members through exceptional wines, exclusive Wine Club perks, curated dining, and travel experiences. With its expansion into Italian cuisine through Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk, focusing on the vibrant flavors of Rome, the company continues to innovatively grow its unique lifestyle brand, setting itself apart in the hospitality industry.
The role of Prep Cook at Cooper's Hawk is vital to maintaining the high standards and reputation the company is known for. Prep Cooks bring heart and precision to every recipe and task they undertake. They prepare fresh, high-quality ingredients that set the tone for a memorable dining experience and help the kitchen operate smoothly. The position requires meticulous attention to detail in slicing, portioning, and plating, supporting the overall commitment to Uncompromising Hospitality. Working as a Prep Cook means being part of a dedicated team that ensures consistent and exceptional food quality for every guest. The role involves organization, accountability, efficiency, communication, and a passion for making every kitchen detail count.
Cooper's Hawk provides a comprehensive benefits package to its team members, including competitive discounts on dining, carryout, retail wine, and private events, monthly wine tastings for two, and robust medical, dental, vision, and telehealth coverage. Financial security is supported through a 401k plan with company match, and the company values work-life balance with paid time off and flexible schedules. Early pay access is also offered, along with wellness and mental health support, wine and culinary education opportunities, and clearly defined career growth pathways. Additional incentives include team member rewards, milestone recognition, and referral bonuses.
Working successfully in this role means showing up prepared and ready, following recipes with precision, and maintaining an organized workstation. It also entails owning your responsibilities, keeping the work area clean, stocked, and safe, and following daily systems for organization. Effective communication and cooperation with teammates and management ensure a smooth, efficient kitchen flow. Prep Cooks perform essential kitchen functions such as washing, peeling, slicing, and mixing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients for salads, sauces, and garnishes. Precision in carving and portioning meats and cheeses is also key, as is adherence to quality standards.
Team members are encouraged to take pride in their prep work, supporting the kitchen by creating the essential foundation for every great dish. Going beyond the basic duties by maintaining kitchen equipment in excellent condition and seeking ways to improve cleanliness, speed, and efficiency demonstrate commitment to the role and the company's values. Cooper's Hawk is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and makes reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process. The company fosters a supportive and dynamic work environment that promotes personal and professional growth within the hospitality industry.
