Tao Group Hospitality is currently seeking part-time Prep Cook team members who will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and production of all food items across its venues. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $18 to $23 and provides eligible team members with a variety of benefits, including state applicable time off, pet insurance, a 401(k) retirement program with employer match, employee assistance programs, TAO savings marketplace, employee discounts, and much more. As a Prep Cook, the individual will work diligently to maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards, strictly adhere to recipe specifications, and support a smooth kitchen operation.

Prep Cooks at Tao Group Hospitality are expected to maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Tao Group Hospitality Employee Handbook and demonstrate gracious hospitality by interacting politely and courteously with fellow employees and supervisors. Responsibilities include handling and preparing food items such as washing, chopping, and cutting, as well as labeling and storing products following FIFO and company standards. The role requires teamwork, effective communication with chefs, sous chefs, and support staff, and a thorough knowledge of assigned recipes. A Prep Cook must also participate in daily pre-service meetings, training sessions, and departmental meetings to continuously learn, share knowledge, and lead by example.

The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand, lift, and bend for extended periods, sometimes lifting up to 50 lbs. It involves working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with exposure to hot kitchen elements and cleaning materials. Candidates must be flexible to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, prep cooks will be trained with Tao Group Hospitality in-venue training and food handling certifications.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend and lift to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary experience preferred
  • Experience as a prep and/or line cook in a high-volume culinary operation preferred
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Tao Group Hospitality in-venue Prep Cook training and Food Handling Certificate

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional appearance standards as directed in the Tao Group Hospitality Employee Handbook
  • anticipate and accommodate the needs of all team members
  • handle all food items by washing, chopping, and cutting according to recipe specifications
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned station, the kitchen and the entire venue
  • label and store all product following FIFO and company standards
  • check production lists and assignments
  • follow supervisor’s instructions, communicate with and support co-workers while being a team player
  • possess in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes with the ability to produce them to company standard
  • possess general knowledge of the venue
  • comply with Department of Health and company sanitation standards
  • communicate product needs to the chefs, sous chefs and the support staff
  • properly set-up prep station and perform other opening/closing procedures as directed by management, including stocking station with prescribed supplies, wiping down and sanitizing station, performing opening and closing side-work as prescribed
  • report all breakage, damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management
  • attend and participate in daily pre-service meetings and any training sessions or departmental meetings
  • learn by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
  • portray a positive and professional attitude
  • demonstrate knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners and supporting hotel environments
  • work as part of a team and provide help and support to all fellow team members
