As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, the Goldbelt Tram is a renowned attraction that combines scenic adventure with a celebration of Alaska Native culture. Guests can explore miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, learn about local history, and immerse themselves in the natural beauty and cultural richness of Alaska, all while enjoying top-tier service in an iconic setting. \n\nThe Goldbelt Tram’s restaurant plays a vital role in enhancing the overall guest experience by providing delicious food and warm hospitality. The position open is for a Prep Cook, who will operate under the guidance of shift supervisors, kitchen managers, or line cooks. This role involves preparing salads, vegetables, sauces, soups, sandwiches, and other menu items with precision and care to uphold the establishment's high standards of quality and guest satisfaction. The Prep Cook contributes to maintaining a premier customer service atmosphere while ensuring food preparation processes meet sanitation and safety standards. Both part-time and full-time schedules are available, and the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Due to the unique nature of this position and location, the company requests that applicants either already reside in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.\n\nSeasonal employees at Goldbelt Tram are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan, designed to incentivize and reward valuable contributions during their assignment period. Additionally, discretionary performance bonuses may be granted to deserving employees. Starting wages are competitive, beginning at $17.00 per hour depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • Zero (0) months as a prep cook and a strong willingness to learn how to be a prep cook
  • State of Alaska Food Workers Card within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check
  • Must be at least 16 years of age

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of restaurant cooking, food presentation and storage
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment and appliances
  • and sanitary food requirements/codes
  • Ability to work productively and under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Prepares salads, vegetables, sandwiches and portions of food
  • Assists the cooks in simultaneously balancing and putting out different plates during a shift
  • Learns the practices and techniques of preparing and cooking basic menu items in order to progress to the line cook level of experience and knowledge
  • Assists with movement of supplies from lower terminal to kitchen area
  • Maintains high sanitation standards and proper hygiene and sanitary habits at all times
  • Ensures proper food handling and storage and space/equipment cleanliness
  • assists supervisor in preparing for health inspections
  • Provides assistance to kitchen staff in order to put out a top-quality food product in an efficient manner
  • Develop/maintain teamwork and to contribute to a smooth operation
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
