Job Description

Currently, Proof of the Pudding is looking for Prep Cooks to join their culinary team stationed at the Gil's Elegant Catering facility located in Grand Prairie, TX. This role is pivotal in supporting large-scale catering events by handling mass food production, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and assisting executive and culinary leadership in various tasks. Prep Cooks will play a key role starting the day at the warehouse setting where they assist in gathering necessary food items, ensuring proper food quantities, and coordinating the loading of trucks with all required rentals and materials per the event’s Banquet Event Order (BEO). This hands-on role requires a strong foundation in food preparation and sanitation practices, as well as the flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the catering kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen
  • knowledge of food preparation and food service
  • ServSafe certification or availability for training
  • comfortable commuting to Grand Prairie, TX
  • ability to lift up to 40 pounds

  • capable of manual dexterity to operate kitchen tools

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen, experience in catering preferred
  • knowledge of food preparation and food service with understanding of BEO execution and production sheets
  • ServSafe certified or willing to receive training
  • capable of producing consistent products in a timely manner
  • excellent listening and communication skills
  • strong customer service skills
  • planning and multi-tasking ability
  • self-motivated with high energy level and strong verbal communication
  • understanding of food safety practices including temperature logs and cleaning/sanitizing paperwork

Job Duties

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations
  • following prep lists created by lead culinary
  • measuring ingredients and seasonings and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock
  • preparing simple dishes as directed by the Executive Chef
  • ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
  • assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to culinary tasks
  • supervising food and cooling room temperatures
  • accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers
  • maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
  • maintaining the highest level of food quality
  • ensuring proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen and food service areas
  • performing other related duties as needed
