Job Description
Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company that operates throughout the Southeast, renowned for its commitment to creating quality culinary concepts from scratch. Established with a vision to elevate food service, Proof of the Pudding has become a leader in delivering exceptional culinary experiences across various sectors. From intimate events to large-scale sports and entertainment hospitality services, the company has built a reputation for excellence and creativity. Their portfolio includes providing elevated concessions and premium food offerings to prestigious venues such as collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, international boat shows, and professional sports teams, among others. Proof of the Pudding prioritizes quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, making it a preferred partner for many high-profile events and organizations.
Currently, the company is seeking Prep Cooks to join their culinary team at Georgia Tech. These team members will play a crucial role in supporting food service operations for Georgia Tech’s athletic events, special campus events, and student-athlete nutrition programs. Prep Cooks will assist the culinary department in preparing the daily Athlete Training Table, which caters specifically to the nutrition needs of student-athletes, as well as contribute during football game days and other sporting events hosted by Georgia Tech. This role is seasonal and part-time, with work schedules influenced by the timing and frequency of athletic events.
The Prep Cook position is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation and culinary arts who thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic event environment. Responsibilities will include setting up and sanitizing workstations to maintain food safety standards, following detailed prep lists created by lead culinary staff, and accurately measuring ingredients and seasonings to maintain consistency in food quality. Prep Cooks will prepare fundamental cooking ingredients such as soup stock and simple dishes under the supervision and direction of the Executive Chef, ensuring food items are properly stored, accessible, and safe for consumption.
In addition to food preparation duties, Prep Cooks will monitor food and cooling room temperatures and inspect incoming ingredients to accept or reject deliveries based on quality standards. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen environment will be integral to this role. Prep Cooks will also assist chefs by attending to various culinary tasks as they arise during events, including running food on game days to ensure timely service.
The work environment encompasses event operations within Georgia Tech’s football stadium and other venue locations around campus. This role requires physical stamina and mobility as it involves moving through stadium grounds and handling equipment and food items that may weigh up to 40 pounds. Candidates must also adhere to company uniform policies, including the use of non-slip shoes for safety. The position demands a strong commitment to food safety practices, including knowledge of temperature control standards, sanitation protocols, and the proper handling of food service tools and ingredients.
Proof of the Pudding offers competitive pay starting at $18 per hour for this position, along with valuable benefits such as a free meal per shift and opportunities for advancement within the company. On-the-job training is provided, equipping team members with industry-relevant skills that can be leveraged across a wide range of culinary and hospitality settings. The company fosters a culture of inclusion and diversity, ensuring a welcoming workplace free from discrimination. Overall, this role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to grow their culinary careers while contributing to the success of major sporting events and nourishing student athletes at a distinguished institution.
