Job Description
The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, formerly known as the Millennium Hotel, is a prominent and well-established hotel located on the scenic shores of Lake Spenard in Anchorage, Alaska. This hotel stands as a premier destination for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a memorable experience during their visit to Alaska. Ideally positioned just one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel provides easy access to the city's vibrant attractions and serves as the perfect base for exploring the natural wonders that Alaska offers.
With 248 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel caters to both leisure and business travelers. The hotel features three outstanding food and beverage outlets that serve a variety of culinary delights, reflecting the diverse and rich culinary culture of the region. The establishment prides itself on delivering exceptional guest service, creating an inviting atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy their stay.
The role of the Prep Cook at the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and food preparation. This full-time seasonal position is integral to the hotel's kitchen operations, supporting the line cooks and chefs by preparing raw food and ingredients essential for the assembly and cooking of dishes. The Prep Cook ensures that all food items are prepped in a timely and efficient manner to meet the high standards of taste and presentation that the hotel upholds.
Typical responsibilities for the Prep Cook include receiving deliveries, properly storing food in refrigerators and freezers, maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas, and assisting in kitchen organization. The Prep Cook is also responsible for rotating stock to maintain freshness, preparing ingredients by washing, chopping, grating, and slicing vegetables, as well as cutting meats to appropriate portion sizes. Additional duties include preparing appetizers, soups, and salads, contributing to the preparation of food trays for events, and adhering to special dietary requirements such as vegan or gluten-free meals.
Candidates for this position will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment. The successful applicant will have superior knife skills, a keen sense of taste and smell, and the dexterity necessary for precise food preparation. Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen and knowledge of safe food handling practices are essential. The role also requires flexibility to work hours that coincide with the kitchen and restaurant schedule, including late nights and weekends, and a commitment to maintaining professional and safe working standards.
Joining the team at the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel as a Prep Cook means becoming part of a dynamic and dedicated workforce that takes pride in its work environment and the quality of service it provides. This role offers invaluable on-the-job training and the opportunity to contribute positively to a renowned hospitality establishment. If you enjoy variety in tasks and working in a collaborative setting that values your contributions and professionalism, this position offers an excellent career stepping stone in the culinary and hospitality industry.
