The role of Prep Cook at Cutwater Spirits is essential to maintaining the quality and efficiency of the kitchen operation. This position is suited for candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are dedicated to upholding high standards of food preparation and safety. The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of food items as directed by the Chef de Cuisine and has a focused scope of work that supports the broader kitchen functions. Operating select kitchen equipment such as flat tops, grills, sauté stations, salad prep, and pantry, the cook ensures that ingredients are appropriately prepared and ready for cooking or assembly.

In addition to food preparation, the Prep Cook maintains cleanliness and sanitation in their work area, ensuring compliance with all hygiene and food safety regulations. Collaboration is a key aspect of the role, requiring coordination with kitchen staff and management to sustain a smooth product flow during service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of prior prep or restaurant kitchen experience preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including flat top, grill, sauté, salad prep, and pantry stations
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and verbal instructions
  • Ability to maintain Food Handler’s certification
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior dexterity skills for safe use of cutting tools

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years prior prep and restaurant kitchen experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables using a variety of kitchen equipment and techniques
  • Know and comply consistently with portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service for our guests
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff and management to maintain effective product flow
  • Handle, store, and rotate all products properly
  • Assists in food prep assignments from Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef, and Lead Prep
