The Prep Cook position at LCCC is a full-time, benefited job, designated as a Classified 4 level role, with a salary range of $16.59 to $18.75 per hour dependent upon experience. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the daily operations of the dining hall by ensuring efficient and meticulous food preparation. The position involves preparing fresh and properly portioned ingredients to support chefs and line cooks, maintaining food safety standards, and organizing a clean work environment. Additionally, the Prep Cook assists with catering preparations for various events, contributing to a seamless and high-quality food service experience. The schedule mainly covers Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, with occasional weekend shifts required during large-scale events. The role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with formal culinary training preferred
  • 2 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced environment
  • serv safe certification, culinary degree or 4 years food service experience preferred
  • in lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered

Job Duties

  • Prepare, set up, clean, and stock cooking and self-service stations
  • assist in catering preparation, ensuring timely and efficient support for events
  • handle, store, and cook food items in accordance with safe food handling practices and established recipes
  • ensure the quality and freshness of the salad bar by preparing ingredients, replenishing items, and maintaining a clean and organized station
  • maintain cleanliness by routinely sanitizing surfaces, organizing equipment, and disposing of waste in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • support efficient kitchen operations at the prepping station by organizing ingredients, preparing components, and ensuring readiness for service according to established standards
