Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a premier 365-day entertainment destination located in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas. We are currently seeking motivated and skilled Prep Cooks to join our culinary team and contribute to the success of our diverse events at COTA. This role is pivotal in supporting the main kitchen operations, focusing on efficient mass food production and maintaining the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and food quality. Prep Cooks will work closely under the guidance of executive chefs and culinary leadership, ensuring smooth execution of event catering and food service.
The position primarily involves a variety of food preparation tasks, including setting up and sanitizing workstations, measuring and prepping ingredients, and assisting in the creation of simple dishes directed by the Executive Chef. Prep Cooks will be responsible for ensuring that all food items are stored properly, ingredients meet quality standards upon delivery, and kitchen safety and sanitation protocols are rigorously adhered to.
This part-time, hourly role offers competitive pay based on experience and includes benefits such as daily meals per shift, flexible scheduling (with exceptions during major event dates), and opportunities for career advancement. The role is physically demanding, requiring prolonged standing and the ability to lift up to approximately 40 pounds, and candidates must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Job Requirements
- One or more years of kitchen experience
- knowledge of food preparation and service
- ability to work in fast-paced environment
- physical capability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds
- adherence to company uniform requirements including non-slip shoes
- basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of kitchen experience
- experience in catering preferred
- knowledge of food preparation and food service
- strong understanding of execution of BEOs
- ability to read production sheets and complete tasks
- capable of producing consistent products in high volume
- customer service skills
- planning and multi-tasking abilities
- self-motivated with high energy
- familiarity with reading recipes
Job Duties
- Setting up and sanitizing workstations
- following prep lists created by lead culinary
- measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock
- preparing simple dishes as directed by the Executive Chef
- ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
- assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise
- supervising food and cooling room temperatures
