Job Description
Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart is a highly respected educational institution committed to academic excellence and the development of the whole student in a nurturing and faith-based environment. Founded on the principles of the Society of the Sacred Heart, the Academy strives to foster a safe, predictable, and supportive atmosphere where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to grow intellectually, morally, and spiritually. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, respect, and professionalism, Duchesne Academy maintains a healthy school culture that aligns with its educational mission and values. The Academy is also dedicated to equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce where all individuals are respected and valued without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, or other protected status under the law.
The Prep Cook & Barista position at Duchesne Academy is a unique, dual-role opportunity designed to support both the kitchen team and the boutique coffee shop, Cha Cha's, located on campus. This part-time role involves assisting kitchen staff with meal preparation in the morning hours and transitioning to barista duties in the afternoon. The Prep Cook portion requires helping to prepare ingredients and meals according to established recipes and safety standards, managing ingredient labeling and storage, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting overall kitchen operations. In the afternoon, the candidate will serve students, faculty, and staff at Cha Cha's by preparing and fulfilling food and beverage orders with professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
This position operates Monday through Friday with shifts scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the morning and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. The role demands punctuality, a strong customer service orientation, attention to food safety and sanitation guidelines, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced educational environment. Candidates are expected to complete required certifications and training such as Food Handlers certification and CPR, alongside background checks, before or shortly after beginning employment.
Working at Duchesne Academy offers more than just a job—it provides an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic community dedicated to excellence, respect, and service. Employees are held to high professional standards that include respectful interaction, attendance at required meetings and faith-based events, and active participation in ongoing professional development. The Academy values integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to continuous improvement, encouraging each team member to set and pursue personal and professional goals that support the school's mission.
For individuals passionate about food service, customer interaction, and supporting an educational setting, this role presents an ideal combination of responsibilities that engage both culinary skills and barista expertise. The role focuses on delivering high-quality food and beverage services while maintaining a clean and organized workspace and fostering positive relationships with the school community. It is a unique chance to be part of a respected institution where employees contribute meaningfully to the daily experience of students and staff alike.
