Wesley Palms Retirement Community is currently seeking a Full-Time Prep Cook (Assistant Cook) to join their culinary team. This position operates under the supervision of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef and involves preparing various food items needed for daily meal services. The Prep Cook plays an essential role in ensuring that meals are prepared with quality, accuracy, and presentation standards that meet the expectations of both management and residents. The work schedule for this role is Tuesday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a pay range of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.
The position requires proficiency in multiple food preparation techniques, including chopping, butchering, cleaning, breading, and baking, making it a dynamic and skill-developing role. The Prep Cook is often assigned a specific station to maintain and manage, ensuring that all ingredients and supplies are stocked, fresh, and safe for consumption. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation and high standards of the community’s kitchen environment. Additionally, the Prep Cook is responsible for sanitation within their stations, proper storage of food items, and assisting with deliveries and inventory management.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Food Handlers' certification from local health department
- 1+ years of previous prep or assistant cook experience preferred
- Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Ability to complete pre-employment physical, physical abilities test, drug screen, and criminal background clearance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Food Handlers' certification from local health department
- 1+ years of previous prep or assistant cook experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares raw ingredients for cooking including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, cleaning seafood, breading items, and panning desserts and breads
- Responsible to keep a single station or multiple stations fully stocked at mealtimes
- Responsible for the storage of food including incoming stock and leftovers for own station(s)
- Assist in unloading delivery trucks and ensuring food is stored in appropriate conditions
- Aids in determining if leftovers can be reused or must be disposed of
- Keep track of supplies used to aid in re-ordering supplies as necessary
- Ensure own station is appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
- Aid in ensuring entire kitchen meets sanitation standards
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
