The role of Produce Team Member at Whole Foods Market involves performing all functions related to processing and merchandising fresh produce to maintain the highest quality standards. This position plays a critical part in ensuring that customers receive fresh fruits and vegetables, displayed attractively and prepared according to company guidelines. Team Members are expected to provide outstanding customer service, support store operations by following safety and sanitation procedures, and actively contribute to a positive shopping environment. The Produce Team Member is responsible for cutting and prepping fruits and vegetables, maintaining sampling programs, cleaning the department area, and assisting with stock rotation and merchandising to maximize sales potential. This role demands a dedicated individual with a passion for natural foods, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset. The wage range for this position is $17.50 to $25.40 per hour, based on experience, and it is an hourly employment opportunity. Job Requirements

No prior retail experience required
must be able to lift 50 pounds
standing and walking 6-8 hours per 8-hour shift
hand use including grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
ability to work in temperatures from freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
ability to work in wet and dry conditions
flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
ability to use tools such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks and heavy machinery
may require use of ladders

Job Duties

Cuts fruits and vegetables following safety and sanitation rules
ensures product meets Whole Foods Market quality and preparation guidelines
maintains sampling program
cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
arrives on time, appropriately groomed and ready to work
provides excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling techniques
maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking and merchandising
follows established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
maintains a clean and sanitary work environment
performs opening, mid and closing duties
ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
immediately reports safety hazards and violations
performs other duties as assigned
