The position of Prep Cook at The Reed's Bistro is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and kitchen operations. This seasonal-term employment role is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and pays an hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $21.00. The Prep Cook works closely with the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef to support daily culinary operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen organization, and assisting with food production. This role is essential to ensuring the kitchen is properly prepared for service at all times while upholding the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. The Prep Cook will engage in a variety of tasks that include washing, cutting, peeling, portioning, and applying basic cooking techniques to ingredients following standardized recipes and chef direction. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler Card by the first day of employment is required
- Previous prep cook restaurant or commercial kitchen experience preferred
- Basic knife skills and understanding of kitchen operations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Positive team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
- Interest in food hospitality and sustainability preferred
- Flexible availability including evenings weekends holidays and special events as needed

Job Duties
- Prepare ingredients according to standardized recipes and chef direction including washing cutting peeling portioning and basic cooking techniques
- Ensure all prep work meets established quality consistency and portion standards
- Complete assigned food preparation tasks accurately and efficiently to support daily kitchen operations
- Maintain clean organized prep areas storage areas refrigeration units and walk-in coolers
- Properly label date rotate and store food items in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Follow all health department regulations sanitation procedures and food safety guidelines
- Assist with receiving deliveries inspecting products for quality and freshness and storing inventory appropriately
- Support inventory organization and practice proper product rotation and waste reduction techniques
- Assist line cooks and chefs during service as needed to ensure efficient kitchen operations
- Maintain clear communication with kitchen team members to support workflow and service execution
- Demonstrate attention to detail professionalism and respect for ingredients in all aspects of food preparation
- Contribute to a positive respectful and team-oriented kitchen environment
