The role of the Prep Cook at Bellawood Farm is essential in maintaining the high standards of food preparation and kitchen efficiency that the establishment is known for. Prep Cooks are responsible for a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. The position requires working closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen management to complete all tasks systematically and efficiently. Prep Cooks at Bellawood Farm engage in activities such as washing, chopping, and sorting fresh ingredients including fruits, vegetables, and meats. They measure seasonings, prepare dishes by sautéing, baking, and reducing sauces, and initiate the early steps of multiple recipes.

In addition to food preparation, the Prep Cook plays a critical role in kitchen maintenance by cleaning dishes, washing utensils and cookware, taking out the trash, and sanitizing work surfaces to ensure compliance with all nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards. The role demands safety and proficiency in operating kitchen equipment like knives, slicers, and mixers. Further responsibilities include labeling and stocking ingredients on accessible shelves and tracking inventory to coordinate with kitchen and management staff for timely resupply orders. Job Duties

  • Completing all tasks in order on the prep list from the Head Chef or kitchen manager
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on accessible shelves

  • Preparing food including sautéing baking reducing sauces and starting first steps in various dishes

  • Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with kitchen and management staff to order resupply
