The role of a Prep Cook at SSP America is essential to the smooth operation of our kitchen. Prep Cooks are responsible for the foundational preparation tasks that enable chefs and line cooks to efficiently deliver top-quality dishes to our guests. This position involves receiving food orders, preparing ingredients in accordance with recipes and portion controls, and setting up the kitchen station to streamline the cooking process. Working in the 'Back of House,' Prep Cooks contribute to maintaining cleanliness, ensuring that all perishables are handled and stored properly, and that kitchen equipment and machinery are cleaned and maintained daily. By supporting the entire kitchen team, Prep Cooks play a critical role in delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Job Duties

  • Follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items
  • maintain proper and adequate set-up of the kitchen/station on a daily basis
  • requisition and stock all required food, paper products, and condiments
  • handle, store, and rotate all products properly
  • responsible for set-up, regular maintenance, cleaning, and breakdown of any machinery and equipment
  • responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storage of all perishables daily to ensure product quality
  • complete opening, on-going, and closing checklists as required
