The Prep Cook role at Fresh Kitchen is essential to the foundation of our kitchen operations. As part of the Prep Team, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality recipes and menu items while maintaining rigorous standards for food safety, production, and sanitation. Your focus will be on preparing and handling food according to detailed recipes and specifications to ensure consistency and quality in every dish served.

Daily responsibilities include managing food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing proteins, making homemade sauces and marinades, and baking desserts. You will also handle the rotation and proper storage of produce and food orders, maintain inventory pars, and ensure that all food safety and sanitation practices are rigorously followed. Operating kitchen machinery safely and efficiently, including knives, ovens, grills, and processors, is a critical part of the role.

Beyond technical skills, the Prep Cook is integral to setting the kitchen up for success by ensuring adequate product quantities for each shift and properly opening, closing, and cleaning your workstation. This role requires a high level of accountability, teamwork, and a strong passion for food and people. Fresh Kitchen values individuals with a positive attitude who can work swiftly without compromising quality.

Compensation ranges from $17 to $22 per hour, reflecting the importance and skill required in this position. Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • reliable transportation to and from work
  • can work in both hot and cool environments
  • able to lift at least 20 pounds and frequently squat and bend
  • able to work in a fast-paced setting for up to 8 hours daily or as needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare and prep high volumes of vegetables and protein
  • make homemade sauces and marinades
  • bake desserts
  • put away and rotate produce and food orders
  • maintain pars and counts of responsible items
  • maintain exceptional food safety and sanitation practices
  • use kitchen machinery including knives, ovens, grills, gas stoves, food processors, and blenders properly
  • follow recipes and adhere to food specs, ensuring quality and consistency
  • properly open, close, and clean your station to set yourself and other team members up for success
  • perform additional responsibilities as requested at any time
