The facility prides itself on its comprehensive approach to senior living, including personalized care plans, a variety of wellness programs, and engaging activities designed to foster a vibrant community. Employees at Canterbury Woods are valued as essential contributors to this mission, working collaboratively to ensure residents receive compassionate and high-quality care.

The role of Assistant Cook at Canterbury Woods is a vital position within the culinary team, designed to support the preparation and presentation of nutritious and appealing meals for residents. Working under the supervision of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef, the Assistant Cook plays an important role in maintaining the high standards of the dining experience. This position is scheduled for Friday through Tuesday, from 6am to 2pm, offering a consistent and predictable workweek. The pay range for this role is competitive, ranging from $20.25 to $22.50 per hour, reflecting the importance of skilled culinary support in the establishment.

In this role, the Assistant Cook is entrusted with preparing food as directed by senior kitchen staff, ensuring that each dish is crafted with attention to detail and plated attractively to enhance the dining atmosphere. The Assistant Cook must be proficient in a variety of cooking techniques and able to adapt to different station assignments, each focusing on specific types of dishes or food preparation tasks. This specialization allows the Assistant Cook to develop expertise and contribute efficiently to the overall kitchen operations.

Moreover, this role demands a strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices, highlighted by the requirement for a Food Handlers' certification from the local health department. This certification ensures the Assistant Cook is knowledgeable about proper food handling procedures to protect residents' health. In addition, candidates must have a High School diploma or GED, affirming a foundational level of education necessary for success in this position.

Canterbury Woods values diversity and inclusivity, proudly operating as an Equal Opportunity Employer that embraces all aspects of diversity. The hiring process includes prerequisite screenings such as a pre-employment physical, physical abilities test, drug screening, and a Department of Justice criminal background check to uphold safety and reliability standards within the workplace. The compensation package reflects a commitment to fair and competitive wages, adjusted based on the individual’s experience, skills, education, and certifications.
