The baking position at Whole Foods Market is vital to delivering high-quality artisan breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods to customers, upholding the company's dedication to exceptional product standards and customer satisfaction. A successful team member excels at maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, supports store initiatives, and demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills. The role also requires handling heavy machinery safely and managing physical demands such as lifting, prolonged standing, and working in diverse temperature conditions. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Ability to perform single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures including freezing, refrigerated, and hot conditions
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • Produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • Performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • Stocks dry products
  • Develops new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity
  • Trains production personnel to the highest standards in industry
  • Performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
  • Maintains all production modules in the Datapax system
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
