This is an hourly position with a wage range of $17.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience. As a Produce team member, your duties will include cutting fruits and vegetables while following strict safety and sanitation procedures. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company’s quality standards before they reach the shelves. The role involves maintaining the department’s sampling program, continuous cleaning, and keeping sweep logs to ensure a hygienic shopping environment. Timeliness, punctuality, appropriate grooming, and readiness to work are essential.

Customer service is a top priority. You will provide excellent service by addressing customer needs promptly and effectively, using suggestive selling techniques, and handling phone inquiries courteously. Proper product storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising practices will be expected to maximize sales potential. Compliance with company procedures, including Weights and Measures and safety regulations, is mandatory.

Working in this role requires physical stamina and the ability to handle tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for six to eight hours per shift, and performing motions like bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. You will also use various tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and possibly ladders. The working environment may involve exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and a range of temperatures, from freezing to warm conditions.

Job Requirements

  • Standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling

  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit up to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • Ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Maintains sampling program
  • Cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
