This full-time role at Atria Senior Living involves assisting with the preparation and presentation of meals in a community where residents expect high-quality dining experiences. The position requires closely working with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to maintain satisfaction with the food and dining services. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen environment is essential, including adhering to cleaning schedules, food safety standards, and company policies on food storage and preparation. This role offers competitive pay ranging from $19.00 to $22.80 per hour, depending on work history and experience. Employees are expected to actively participate in pre-meal kitchen meetings, support the execution of special events and banquets, and help operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a sanitary condition. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in food preparation or kitchen assistance preferred
  • Ability to work full-time hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid food handlers permit as required by local regulations
  • Serv safe certification
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual kitchen tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Effectively read, write and communicate in English with residents and other employees
  • Food handlers permit as required by provincial law/local/state and/or Company standards
  • Serv safe is required
  • Able to follow and read recipes and production guides
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking and service

Job Duties

  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals
  • Provide a high level of customer service
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs
  • Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules as assigned
  • Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards
  • Assist cook with preparation and presentation of meals and snacks in accordance with Company recipes and production guides
  • Keep kitchen floors clean (sweeps and mops) and trash emptied
  • Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies
  • Assist cooks as requested
  • Adhere to standard food safety practices
  • Assist with preparing and executing special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner
  • Will attend pre-meal stand-up in the kitchen prior to meal service
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
