The role of a Bakery Team Member at Whole Foods Market is vital to maintaining these standards of quality and service. This position involves all functions related to the preparation, counter service, and stocking of bakery products, including decorating and finishing cakes and pies. Team Members are expected to uphold a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow team members. This role demands adherence to store and team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and active participation in supporting Whole Foods Market's core values and goals.
As a Bakery Team Member, you will produce quality breads and pastries, including doughs, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars. Baking duties include mixing, baking, cooling, wrapping, labeling products, and stocking dry goods. You will also have opportunities to develop new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variety and optimize productivity. Training production personnel to meet industry standards and executing production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays are important aspects of this role. Proficient use of the Datapax system to maintain production records is essential.
This job requires excellent time management, organization, and communication skills, along with a passion for natural foods and a strong work ethic to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and work under variable temperatures. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- able to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- ability to perform hand use functions such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- able to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
- exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures below freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery
- may require use of ladders
