Job Description

Kamehameha Schools located at 1887 Makuakane Street, Honolulu, HI 96817, is currently hiring for a full-time Prep Cook position. This role is part of Flik Independent School Dining (FISD), a division within Compass Group, which has been a leader in transforming private and independent school foodservice across 300 communities for over 40 years. The Prep Cook will work Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm in a dynamic environment dedicated to quality and excellence in food preparation and service. This role requires minimum two years of prior prep cooking experience. Responsibilities include preparing food items according to specified recipes, operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, maintaining strict adherence to federal, state, and local health regulations including HACCP guidelines, and providing excellent customer service by taking orders and serving customers in a timely manner. The Prep Cook is instrumental in ensuring food quality, safety, and compliance while supporting daily kitchen operations through accurate documentation and proper food storage procedures. Compensation for this full-time position ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour.

Job Requirements

  • Previous two years of prep cooking experience
  • Ability to work full time Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 2:00 pm
  • Willingness to comply with health and safety regulations
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with kitchen staff
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively

Job Duties

  • Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef
  • Prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes
  • Complete and follow daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • Taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • Operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use
  • Store, label and date all food items according to policy
  • Follow HACCP guidelines
  • Complete all required documentation, reports, logs as required
  • Comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time
  • Serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations
  • Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Resolve customer concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
