The Waco Convention Center, part of ASM Global's impressive portfolio, is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join its culinary team. This hands-on role is vital to maintaining the highest levels of food quality and guest satisfaction. The Prep Cook will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary staff to ensure all food preparation meets stringent standards for safety, sanitation, and taste. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes, maintaining quality food production standards, and operating kitchen equipment safely. The role requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, supporting the dynamic scheduling needs of the convention center.

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop their culinary skills within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Prep Cook will prepare various food items across multiple stations, including fry, sauté, broiler, roast, breakfast, and stock, soups, and sauces stations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year hands on experience
  • Facility and industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety
  • Strong guest service skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to follow instructions promptly
  • Serv-Safe certification or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist the Executive Chef and cooks in following and maintaining standard recipes as listed in the ASM Global Food and Beverage Standard recipe book
  • Maintain safe and sanitary working conditions and environment
  • Assist in preparation of menu items as directed on Production Sheet
  • Maintain quality food production standards
  • Prepare hot food items for any or all of the work stations including fry/sauté station, broiler/roast station, breakfast station, stock, soups, sauces station and others as assigned
  • Follow all rules and regulations set by ASM Global
  • Safely operate all equipment
  • Maintain safety, sanitation, and health code standards
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive and/or Sous Chef(s)
