The role available in the Produce Department involves all functions related to the processing, preparation, and merchandising of fruits and vegetables. The position is designed to ensure the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. Team members performing this role will be responsible for cutting, preparing, and merchandising produce to meet Whole Foods Market’s guidelines. They also participate in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary department that complies with all health and safety regulations, including FDA standards and food safety protocols.

This position is hourly, with a wage range of $20.00 to $29.73 per hour, commensurate with experience. Eligibility for these benefits is determined at the date of hire in accordance with applicable plans. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour shift
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures ranging from freezing (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit) to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cut fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • maintain sampling program
  • clean department continuously and maintain sweep logs
  • arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers timely and effectively
  • maximize sales potential through prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follow and comply with procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintain clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • report safety hazards and violations immediately
  • perform other duties as assigned by leadership
