The Produce Department Team Member at Whole Foods Market plays a vital role in maintaining these standards by performing all functions related to the preparation and merchandising of fresh produce. This role is essential in ensuring that customers receive top quality fruits and vegetables that meet the rigorous Whole Foods Market guidelines. The position involves a blend of food preparation, sanitation, customer service, and merchandising duties aligned with the company’s core values and commitment to quality and food safety. In addition, they are responsible for providing excellent customer service, applying suggestive selling techniques, and supporting the store’s compliance with health and safety regulations. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and handling various tools and equipment safely. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Ability to use hand motions such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • Ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Maintains sampling program
  • Cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
