This role as a Team Member within the Prepared Foods department focuses on delivering exceptional service while performing various preparation, stocking, and sanitation tasks. The position is hourly, with a wage range between $16.00 and $25.40 depending on experience. As part of an inclusive team, you will ensure that all prepared foods meet the company’s strict standards for quality, freshness, accurate labeling, and presentation. Team Members in this role engage directly with customers, providing friendly and knowledgeable service to enhance the shopping experience. You will be responsible for preparing foods according to recipes, maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas, documenting waste, rotating stock properly, and following all health and safety regulations. This position also demands working collaboratively with other team members and being flexible with scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays. Safety in the workspace and compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures are paramount.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders
Job Qualifications
- No prior retail experience required
- strong to excellent communication skills
- willingness to work as part of a team
- ability to make an adequate number of recipes per shift based on batch size
- capable of accessing information about market conditions and communicating it to customers
- understands spoilage and supply waste and how it affects department profits
- working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department
- ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to team members, customers, and vendors

Job Duties
- Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues
- ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- help customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
- ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
- arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
- provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
- answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
- maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follow and comply with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- maintain equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards
- perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
- immediately report safety hazards and violations
