The Produce Team Member’s responsibilities include cutting and preparing fruit and vegetables following strict safety and hygiene practices; ensuring produce meets Whole Foods Market quality guidelines; maintaining continuous cleanliness of the department along with sweep logs; arriving punctually for shifts and participating in all required trainings and meetings; providing impeccable customer service that meets or exceeds expectations; executing suggestive selling techniques; effectively handling phone and paging communications; following proper storage, rotation, and stocking protocols; adhering to health, sanitation, and safety regulations; keeping equipment in clean and safe working order; performing opening, mid, and closing duties including accurate sign and price management; promptly reporting any safety hazards; and other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours per day
  • Experience with single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Capability to bend, twist, squat, and reach during work
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures ranging from freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficiency in usage of tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • Ensures product meets company guidelines for quality and preparation

  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses customer needs efficiently, models suggestive selling techniques, answers phones and pages promptly
  • Maximizes sales potential through proper preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of product
  • Follows and ensures compliance with health, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Maintains clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties including ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Reports safety hazards and violations promptly
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership
