The role of a full-time Prep Cook at Merriman's Honolulu is integral to the culinary team's success. This position supports the kitchen by ensuring that all preparation tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The Prep Cook will be responsible for tasks such as cutting foods according to standardized recipes, reading and following detailed instructions, pre-weighing, measuring, and packaging ingredients for future use, and preparing various sauces, dressings, and batters. Additionally, the position involves cooking or baking certain food items ahead of time and maintaining a clean and sanitary prep area to uphold food safety standards.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience as a prep cook or in a similar culinary role

  • Availability to work full-time
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Cut foods per standardized recipes
  • Read and follow recipes
  • Pre-weigh, measure, and package foods for later use by line cooks

  • Cook or bake certain food items for later use
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the prep area
  • Manage trash
  • Complete daily cleaning and organizational tasks assigned by the Chef
