Deer Valley Medical Center, part of the HonorHealth network, offers a variety of medical and support services, including a robust Food Services department dedicated to maintaining nutritional excellence and food safety standards. This department plays a crucial role in patient care by providing nutritious and well-prepared meals that meet the dietary needs of patients, visitors, and staff alike.

The role of Prep Cook at Deer Valley Medical Center is an integral part of the Food Services team. This position involves preparing both hot and cold dishes, including entrees, side dishes, salads, soups, and more, ensuring all food items are prepared according to established recipes and quality standards. The Prep Cook works closely with kitchen staff to manage food preparation in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Responsibilities include operating kitchen equipment such as grinders, ovens, and mixers, assembling meals, managing inventory and stock, and adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols. This role offers a daytime shift and is focused on providing excellent food service within the hospital setting, contributing directly to patient satisfaction and overall healthcare experience.

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold entrees and side dishes according to recipes
  • wash and cut vegetables and fruits
  • slice meats and prepare meat salads
  • operate kitchen equipment including grinders, ovens, choppers, mixers, and blenders
  • set up stations and assemble meals per schedule
  • ensure all foods meet quality standards for freshness, taste, and appearance
  • assemble and garnish cold salads, entrees, appetizers, and desserts
  • store and maintain prepared foods at optimal temperatures
  • plan and coordinate food preparation schedules
  • review production forecasts and adjust quantities as needed
  • maintain sanitary levels throughout food preparation process
  • verify and requisition food and supply items
  • clean and maintain kitchen equipment, tools, and utensils
