This opportunity is for a Produce Department team member who will perform all functions related to the processing, preparation, and merchandising of fresh fruits and vegetables. This role is essential in maintaining the quality standards and reputation of the store by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow team members alike. The position requires adherence to Whole Foods Market’s Standard Operating Procedures, support of the company’s core values and goals, and compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety rules.

The Produce team member will be responsible for cutting fruits and vegetables safely, ensuring products meet stringent quality guidelines, maintaining the sampling program, and keeping the department clean and organized at all times. They will also play a key role in maximizing sales potential through proper product preparation, storage, rotation, and merchandising. This role supports the overall customer experience by delivering excellent service, addressing customer needs promptly, and practicing suggestive selling techniques. Team members will perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, maintain accurate signage and pricing, and promptly report safety hazards.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Cuts fruits and vegetables following all safety and sanitation rules
  • ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • maintains sampling program
  • cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • maintains equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
