Job Description

Holyoke Medical Center is a distinguished 219-bed community hospital that has been serving the healthcare needs of the Pioneer Valley for over 125 years. The center is recognized for its commitment to quality, patient-centered care and continuously evolves to meet the growing and changing needs of its diverse community. As a stand-alone hospital, Holyoke Medical Center prides itself on its rich history, strong community ties, and ongoing dedication to innovative healthcare services. It offers a supportive work environment that values teamwork, continuous improvement, and the professional growth of its employees.

The Food Service team at Holyoke Medical Center is currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Prep Cook to join its kitchen operations. This role is critical to the success of the hospital’s food production efforts, where the Prep Cook will prepare both raw and cooked foods to support cooks, short order cooks, and bakers for daily food service. The role demands a keen focus on maintaining high-quality standards in food preparation while ensuring that internal clients and patients receive excellent service. The ideal candidate is passionate about contributing to the health and wellness of the community through quality work and is eager to learn and adapt within a rapidly evolving department.

This position plays an integral role in managing food production operations, requiring excellent communication skills to keep team members and internal clients informed about progress and timelines. The Prep Cook is also encouraged to contribute ideas and suggestions to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. A teamwork mentality is essential, as the position involves working closely with various kitchen staff and hospital personnel to deliver timely, fresh, and safe food options. This is a day shift role located within the Valley Health Systems Food Service Production unit. Candidates seeking meaningful work in the healthcare food service environment will find this opportunity to be rewarding and growth-oriented. The compensation for the position aligns with the health system's salary grading scale, where actual salary is determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, with no employee paid below the minimum of the range.
