We are currently seeking a hard-working and diligent Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our kitchen, focused on preparing ingredients, setting up workstations, and assisting chefs with various culinary tasks. The Prep Cook will take on responsibilities including measuring ingredients, preparing simple dishes, monitoring stock and food safety standards, and ensuring the kitchen remains clean and well organized. This role requires a keen understanding of food safety, sanitation principles, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

As a Prep Cook, you will be expected to follow detailed prep lists created by the chefs and assist in maintaining the quality and organization of food storage. Your role also involves practical kitchen tasks like supervising food and cooling room temperatures, accepting or rejecting food supplies, distributing plates to wait staff, cleaning plates, and preparing takeaway packages for customers. Physical stamina is important for this position, as working on your feet for extended periods and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is necessary.

Job Duties

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations

  • Preparing simple dishes such as entrees or salads
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
  • Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise
  • Distributing plates to wait staff to be served, cleaning plates for dishwashing, and preparing takeaway packages for customers
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures
  • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
  • Must be able to work standing for a minimum of 4 hours at a time, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
