Job Description

The Prep Cook is primarily responsible for preparing meal ingredients, simple dishes, condiments, and other culinary items in accordance with directions from senior culinary staff such as the head chef or senior chef. This role requires a detail-oriented approach to food preparation, including peeling, cutting, and portioning fresh produce and meat, as well as preparing salads, breads, and various sauces or dressings. The individual will also maintain strict adherence to health, safety, food handling, and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
This position is suited for candidates who thrive in fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure scenarios, possessing the ability to work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding or willingness to learn essential kitchen regulations and food safety techniques. Job Qualifications
- Food Safety Certification
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred

Job Duties
- Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the head chef, senior chef, or other staff
- Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning
- Prepares meat by trimming, cutting, and portioning
- Prepares simple dishes such as breads or salads
- Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces
- Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards
- Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned
