The Prep Cook role at Fresh Kitchen is pivotal to maintaining the company’s mission of delivering exceptional food and service. As a key member of the kitchen team, Prep Cooks take responsibility for food safety, food production, and sanitation within the restaurant. They ensure that all meal components are prepared correctly, adhering to the established recipes and specifications, thereby contributing directly to consistent quality and customer satisfaction. The Prep Team is also responsible for setting up the kitchen for success by guaranteeing that there is enough product to sustain the shift while maintaining strict adherence to food safety and cleanliness protocols. This role demands attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • reliable transportation to and from work
  • ability to work in both hot and cool environments
  • able to lift at least 20 pounds and frequently squat and bend
  • able to work in a fast-paced setting for up to 8 hours daily or as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary experience with a strong passion for food and people
  • good knife skills
  • team player with a good attitude and sense of urgency
  • ability to read and follow written recipes
  • self accountable in upholding high standards
  • willingness to learn and develop
  • ServeSafe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Job Duties

  • Preparing and prepping high volumes of vegetables and protein
  • making homemade sauces and marinades
  • baking desserts
  • putting away and rotating produce and food orders
  • maintaining pars and counts of responsible items
  • maintaining exceptional food safety and sanitation practices
  • using kitchen machinery including knives, ovens, grills, gas stoves, food processors, and blenders properly
  • following recipes and adhering to food specs ensuring quality and consistency
  • properly opening, closing and cleaning your station
  • performing additional responsibilities as requested
