The Prep Cook position at Mesero offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment. This role is vital to the kitchen operations, responsible for preparing and maintaining fresh ingredients, crafting authentic recipes, and ensuring the kitchen stays clean and organized throughout service. Working closely with the chef and line cooks, the Prep Cook plays a crucial role in delivering the quality and consistency that Mesero’s guests expect.
This position is available both part-time and full-time, offering a competitive pay rate of 18 dollars per hour. The Prep Cook role is ideal for those who thrive in a collaborative team setting and are motivated to advance their culinary knowledge and career. Responsibilities include chopping vegetables, stewing meats, preparing sauces, and other essential prep work following the restaurant’s specific recipe standards to maintain the authentic flavors Mesero is known for. Attention to food safety and sanitation is paramount, with the Prep Cook ensuring all preparation areas are properly cleaned and stocked during operating hours.
Additional duties involve setting up and breaking down kitchen stations, assisting with inventory management, and handling deliveries to ensure proper storage and labeling of all food items. Job Requirements
- Up to date certifications required by state regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and directions work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings evenings weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in a prep cook or kitchen support role is preferred but not required
- Up to date certifications required by state regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and directions work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Basic knowledge of food preparation including knife skills and safe handling of ingredients
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent high-quality food
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings evenings weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Prepare and portion ingredients including chopping vegetables stewing meats preparing sauces and other prep work required
- Follow recipe guidelines and standards to ensure consistency in food preparation
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean properly sanitized and stocked throughout service hours
- Assist with setting up and breaking down kitchen stations before and after shifts
- Support line cooks by ensuring all necessary ingredients and supplies are ready for meal service
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of ingredients and supplies and communicate any shortages to the chef
