Prep Cooks at Grand Lux Cafe take pride in their work, consistently paying close attention to detail and maintaining food preparation standards that lead to memorable dining experiences for guests. The role involves following detailed prep lists and recipes, measuring ingredients accurately, and applying a variety of cooking techniques like boiling, broiling, roasting, sautéing, frying, and grilling. Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, broilers, grills, and mixers is part of daily duties. Additionally, Prep Cooks are responsible for labeling, dating, and rotating food items according to FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures, ensuring compliance with all food safety, handling, and cross-contamination prevention standards. This position calls for multitasking with efficiency, a strong work ethic, reliability, and a passion for hospitality.

Job Qualifications
- Prior kitchen experience in the food service industry preferred
- Proficient with kitchen tools, equipment, and culinary techniques, a plus
- Knowledge of food preparation, food handling, and food safety standards
- Ability to multitask with efficiency and attention to detail
- Passionate about hospitality and contributing to a positive team culture
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be at least 18 years old
Job Duties
- Follow a prep list while completing tasks efficiently with speed and a sense of urgency
- Read and follow recipes using accurate measurements, weights, and portioning for consistent recipe execution
- Prepare ingredients using strong knife skills including chopping, dicing, and slicing
- Use a variety of cooking methods and culinary techniques including boiling, broiling, roasting, sauteing, frying, and grilling
- Prep ingredients for all menu items including sauces, dressings, and soups
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, broilers, flat tops, grills, tilt skillets, mixers, and slicers
- Label, date, and rotate food using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures
