Job Description

Trinity Health is a renowned healthcare organization committed to delivering compassionate, person-centered care across a broad spectrum of services. As a part of its expansive network, Trinity Health integrates a comprehensive approach to healthcare, ensuring not only medical excellence but also exceptional service quality in all support functions, including dietary services. The organization’s mission to honor the dignity of every individual and to embrace diversity forms the foundation of its workplace culture. Trinity Health maintains a strong commitment to upholding ethical values, fostering a collaborative environment, and promoting staff development through continuous education and supportive programs. This results in a workplace where employees are valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique talents and perspectives.

The role of Prep Cook at Trinity Health is an essential position that supports the dietary services team by assisting in the preparation of food in compliance with established dietary policies and procedures. This part-time role operates on a rotating shift schedule, providing flexibility and variability in work hours. The Prep Cook plays a pivotal role in ensuring meals are not only nutritious but also meet therapeutic diet requirements and portion control standards. The duties encompass assisting cooks with meal preparation following standardized recipes, preparing and serving palatable and appetizing food, and maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety in food handling.

Additionally, the Prep Cook contributes to special meal preparations and events, ensuring that all food and supplies are adequately prepared and organized for smooth service operations. The role involves inventory management, including the storing and monitoring of food supplies, which is critical for maintaining efficient kitchen operations. Maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout dietary service areas and equipment is another key responsibility, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.

The role requires strong teamwork and communication skills, as Prep Cooks work collaboratively with other departments to meet the needs of residents, customers, and visitors. This position demands excellent customer service skills to interact positively with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers. Trinity Health also prioritizes employee development by mandating attendance at required training, in-services, and educational programs to enhance skills and knowledge. This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking experience in institutional food service or those interested in working in healthcare dietary services, particularly within long-term care or geriatric populations.

Trinity Health offers a supportive environment with numerous benefits including paid holidays, generous paid time off (PTO), and access to tuition reimbursement programs. Employees have the opportunity for daily pay through DailyPay, a referral program, and substantial discounts with major vendors such as AT&T, Verizon, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Quicken Loans. Health benefits commence from day one with low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, with added benefits for medical services accessed within Trinity Health facilities. This role not only offers competitive compensation but also a chance to be part of a mission-driven organization that values diversity, personal growth, and community impact.
