The Prep Cook position is essential within the kitchen team, handling the critical tasks of preparing raw foods, managing portion controls, and executing batch cookery. This role involves working with both hot and cold food items, with a particular focus on cold food preparation such as salads, batch vegetable preparation, and portioning raw meats, fish, and poultry. The Prep Cook is responsible for setting up a portion of the line for meal production and managing that station during service periods. The role reports directly to the Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or General Manager, ensuring cohesive kitchen operations and maintaining high food quality standards.

The Prep Cook's responsibilities extend beyond food preparation to include maintaining cleanliness and safety within the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and adhering to all pub policies including those related to the service of alcohol. The role offers opportunities to occasionally oversee and train kitchen staff as directed by management, fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment. This position requires physical stamina and agility, including lifting weights up to 75 pounds multiple times per shift, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks that involve manual dexterity. Reading and writing skills are necessary for following recipes and guest orders accurately.

Attention to detail is critical for this role, alongside a professional appearance and strong communication skills. Candidates must possess or obtain food handler certification as mandated by local, state, or federal regulations. Job Requirements

  • Food handler or certification if mandated by local, state, or federal codes
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds 2-6 times per shift
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, climb stairs, cut, and slice
  • Frequent immersion of hands in water approximately every 5 minutes
  • Ability to maintain physical agility and dexterity
  • Full sense of touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing

Job Qualifications
